The “Prohibited-Allowed” innovation lab was held as part of Shaare Zedek Medical Center’s collaboration with the Bezalel Design Academy, Azrieli College, and the Hebrew University of 2020.

The Design Challenge:

When detainees and prisoners arrive for treatment in the hospital, they are handcuffed, sometimes even chained to their bed or an inanimate object. This strict procedure derives from the desire to keep the public safe and is activated even when there is no such danger.

This situation degrades the detainees, aggravates their medical condition, and makes it difficult for the medical staff to perform their duties properly.

What we did:

During the course, participants faced the ethical challenge of having prisoners and detainees receive medical treatment in hospitals, acquiring tools from innovation methodologies, and offering innovative solutions that meet the challenge.

I Co-Taught the course with Tair Avni.
